Well, sometimes you don't get to choose exactly how your life story goes...
Unfortunately, right now Cassandra and I are separated, its a bummer and its a bit of a story.  I thought that the PCT was the best thing that we ever did for our marriage and came away feeling so good about things, but I guess I was wrong.  Anyway, I don't want to get into that here, but it's a bummer for anyone who has been following our blog.

So Cassandra is in the Chicago area now and as i'm learning to accept this current situation, the thought of hiking again has filled my mind.  The Appalachain Trail is a very social trail and I think that is one of the things that would be helpful right now.  I also feel closest to God when I am out in His creation, so this seems like a perfect opportunity to process, think and reflect.  I don't have all the answers and i realize that i'm not supposed to have them all either.  I'll be heading out that way this week to drop Cassandra's stuff off and let her drive the van for the summer and fall, I hope it doesn't break down on her, well actually I hope that it doesn't break down on me on my way out there.

Rich and Cindy have graciously offered again to be my support team, although this time it will be much easier.  I've only packed three boxes, mainly for shoes and snacks, as the AT has many more town stops available.  I honestly haven't done a lot of planning for this trip, but I know that its going to be a great experience.

So here's to another adventure...

praying for you both... that the Lord would work mightily in you both as you are apart.. restoring and rebuilding. Psalms 62: 5-8
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone
my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

It is a bummer to hear you guys are separated. Sometimes being apart for a while heals the soul and you find you miss that person that much more. I followed your PCT blog most of the way last summer, as it has been a dream of mine since I was about 12 entering Scouts. Cassandra actually gave me some good tips on reading material to prepare me for my own PCT journey, which I am waiting eagerly to arrive in the mail soon. Unfortunately, I am out on the Bering Sea until September doing biological observer work so no hiking at all for me this summer. I still haven't found anybody willing to hike 2,650 miles with me, but whether or not that happens, I am aiming for a late March start to my hike in 2012. Reading your blogs and posts will hopefully keep me sane the next few months. Anyhow, whatever happens, best of luck to both of you. Have a safe hike!
